Counselling in High Wycombe

At certain points in our lives, we are all likely to have periods where we are struggling emotionally.  However, if this is becoming a problem for you, and you feel that you need additional support, you might benefit from the services offered by a highly qualified, experienced and skilled counsellor or counselling psychologist.

I am fully qualified as a counselling psychologist, accredited by the British Psychological Society.  I practice in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and more specifically, offer my services in High Wycombe.

Counselling services in High Wycombe

There are many different reasons why a person might seek counselling.  They might be suffering from depression, stress, anxiety, difficulties with anger management, going through a bereavement or having relationship  issues.  They might have difficulties around eating (diagnosed eating disorder or otherwise) or use other negative ways of regulating emotion (eg self-harm, alcohol, drugs, etc).  Other individuals might seek counselling following a traumatic event – this might be a recent event, such as a car accident or assault, or it could be as a result of childhood trauma.

Through my clinical hypnotherapy work, I also help clients to stop smoking, to lose weight;  as well as problems with insomnia, and a wide range of phobias.

How to access professional counselling in High Wycombe

Typically, people think of face to face sessions, when they think of counselling.  However, if this is not convenient, I also undertake both telephone and Skype consultations.  Many people find this flexibility offers them a much more convenient way of accessing counselling.  For example, if a client is limited by their mobility, childcare, work commitments, etc, then remote counselling can provide a way forward.

Professionalism and experience

After gaining a BSc Hons in Psychology at Oxford (1996), I became a Chartered Psychologist (2001) by attaining both a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counselling and an MSc in Counselling Psychology.  I then went on to achieve many other qualifications and experiences in a wide range of areas. These include Clinical Hypnosis, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, anger management training, Body Dysmorphia, and eating disorders (I have worked in both outpatient and residential settings).  I am also a committed member of several key professional bodies. These include the Health & Care Professions Council, and the British Psychological Society.  You’ll find a full list of these qualifications and memberships on the relevant page here on my website.
